Chevrolet Trax; American competition to Smart and Mini?

Chevrolet TraxThe Chevrolet Trax, Chevrolet Groove, and Chevrolet Beat are rumored to be the three “minicars” to be shown at the New York International AutoShow. Word has it GM will show these three concepts, then ask the public to vote on a website, with the winner being produced as the next “world car” from GM. Check out the press release below for more details. However, this makes me wonder, is New York really the place to ask the public about a minicar? Do New Yorker’s care? Do you think a car smaller than a Mini or Smartcar makes sense in this market? Leave me a comment and tell us what you think. Read more »

In what I can only describe as a great glimpse behind the curtain, Bob Lutz, talks candidly on camera about his age, lithium ion batteries, advertising, and more. It’s AWESOME to me that a company as large as GM would allow video like this to be posted ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE! We are living in a great time and I am all for corporate transparency! How did we ever live without it? What do you think? Leave me a comment!

Diesel Engines: Not just for trucks!

GM turbo diesel 2.9L V-6GM has just announced a new diesel engine. That is not really big news, GM has diesel engines in many of their trucks, until you hear that it is NOT a truck engine but a turbo diesel 2.9L V-6 to be debuted in a Cadillac sedan!

With all the great press being given to the modern Mercedes and BMW diesel sedans one has to ask, is it time GM created a modern American diesel sedan? With 250 hp and 406 lb-ft. this is a serious power plant! See the press release below for more details. Let’s speculate. What GM vehicle would you like to see this engine in? An Impala? A Malibu? What about a Trailblazer? Or even an H3? Read more »
