With the conclusion of the 2007 Corvette Model Year, the Bowling Green Assembly Plant has released the final production numbers for the year. Corvette production for 2007 totaled an astounding 40,561 Corvettes. This is the most Corvettes produced since the introduction of the C4 model in 1984 and only the sixth time in 54 years that Corvette production crossed the 40,000 unit threshold.

As with the last few years, Corvette owners still prefer Red Corvettes. The two shades of red, Victory and Monterey, combined for 28.9% of total production. However, the single most popular color for the third straight year was Black, accounting for 23.5% of Corvettes. Second place was Victory Red at 16.5% and Machine Silver third at 13.6%. Read more »

Anyone watching for evidence of the 2008 Corvette LS3’s ascension over its predecessor can thank the crew at Lou Gigliotti’s LG Motorsports. They dropped a spanking-new ‘08 on the dyno and took what could be the first rating of the latest ‘Vette to hit the wires. We’d heard tell of 435 horsepower at the crankshaft, and Lou’s boys calculated the translation to the rear wheels as 388 — courtesy of its L92 heads and intake. According to Chris at Corvette Masters of Maitland Florida, that number is about dead on, considering a base C6 dynos at between 330 and 340 rwhp. What are you waiting for? We’ve known for a while that this model is in the works. Reported to be a gasoline-electric hybrid that will be available in the fourth quarter of 2007, it will use a single-mode hybrid system which saves gasoline by shutting off the engine at stoplights. The big news is that it looks to be ready for release very soon. Look closely for the little Hybrid logo on the driver’s door and stay tuned for a full review when the first one rolls off the truck here at KARL Chevrolet HUMMER!
