2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo

Coming this summer is the 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo. Now sporting a 2.0L, direct injected, turbocharged and intercooled, inline-4 engine that is good for 260hp and 260tq! That power combined with the standard 5-speed manual transmission and optional limited slip front differential should make for a very fast and fun compact car. 0-60 should take just 5.7 seconds and stopping should be even faster thanks to Brembo front brakes and 18″ speed rated rubber. Expect to see the first ones land here at KARL Chevrolet HUMMER in May or June 2008. See below for an FAQ on the 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo: Read more »

FROM SAFEKIDS WORLDWIDE AND GENERAL MOTORS

Decade-long Partnership Offers Child Safety Seat Clinics that Correct Faulty Installations
and Save Young Lives

NEW CANAAN,  CT,   (March 5, 2008)  –   Safe Kids Worldwide® presented KARL Chevrolet HUMMER of New Canaan with an Award of Appreciation on Saturday during the free safety seat clinic the dealership offered in collaboration with Fairfield County Safe Kids.  The award “recognizes KARL Chevrolet for its outstanding partnership and support for Safe Kids Fairfield County and the Safe Kids Buckle Up Program.”

Alexis Kagiliery-Lee, Buckle Up East Coast Operations Manager for Safe Kids Worldwide, who presented the award to Leo E. Karl III, President of The Karl Company, and Stephen J. Karl, Vice President, noted that the dealership and the area chapter are one of the longest standing Buckle Up partnership nationwide. “This is a true partnership, offering benefit to both partners as they work together to help the community. It takes time to build a relationship and to reach this level of integration.  A large part of this partnership’s sustainability is an outgrowth of the Karl family’s ongoing commitment to the community; their philanthropic contributions go beyond Safe Kids – they ‘get it.’ Safe Kids Worldwide plans to use this partnership as a model as we promote the growth of collaborations that help families in other parts of the country,” she added. Next-Generation GM Hybrids

new-gm-mild-hybrid.jpgAs Rick Wagoner announced this morning at the Geneva Auto Show, we have a strong new addition to our portfolio of hybrid technologies. The next-generation GM Hybrid system is an affordable hybrid option that will be nearly three times more powerful than the one currently found on the Saturn Vue Green Line, the Saturn Aura Green Line and the Chevy Malibu Hybrid.

We’ll introduce the system in North America in 2010, where you may eventually see it in more than 100,000 of our vehicles annually. The new system is based on a lighter but more powerful lithium-ion battery than the nickel metal hydride one we use today. The lithium-ion battery will be supplied by Hitachi and is paired with a new motor generator to provide more electric assist for a longer period of time. That will increase fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions. Those two goals, as you know, go hand in hand, because burning less fuel puts less CO2 into the air. Read more »
